Tapasya Parihar: Farmer’s Daughter topped the UPSC CSE 2017, Rank 23
Every year UPSC conducts civil services examination for the recruitment of various civil services like Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), and Indian Revenue Services (IRS) etc. The result of UPSC Civil Services Examination was declared in May. This year result came with some interesting stories of toppers.
Anudeep Durishetty an IRS Officer secured 1st rank & becomes the topper of CSE 2017. 2nd rank is secured by Anu Kumari who started her career after her marriage. Sachin Gupta has secured 3rd rank with his dedication & hard work.
Tapasya Parihar has secured 23rd rank in CSE 217. So let’s begin his journey.

Tapasya belongs to a farmer’s family. She was born and brought up in small village Jowa, Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. She always wanted to become an IAS officer because she wants to do something for the betterment of agriculture as she has seen the struggle of his father. Tapasya’s father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife. Her parents always supported her in every decision. She is the topper of CSE 2017 of Madhya Pradesh. She made her family proud of her achievement. She truly belies in hard work and that is why she is able to achieve her dreams.
She has a brother and a sister. Her sister is currently pursuing her graduation in Bachelor’s of Science (B. Sc) and her brother is pursuing his graduation in Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA). Tapasya gives the credit of his success to her family. She said that her family was very supportive during the entire preparation. They never said no to her demand for studies. It because of her family’s support she had achieved the success.
She gets motivated by her family for the civil service as she has seen the struggle of his father as a farmer, which inspired her to do something for the betterment of agriculture sector. Her uncle Vinayak Parihar is a social worker, she also had learned a lot from her uncle. While her grandmother Devkunwar Parihar was the president of Narsinghpur Panchayat. That is why she got the motivation for civil services from her family.

Educational Qualification
She is a brilliant student since her school days and her family always supported her studies. Her family always taught her the importance of education. She had completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Narsinghpur she was the topper of her school in the 10th and 12th standard.
During her school days, she got interested in Law. So she pursues law as her career after the school. She has completed her law degree from the India Law Society’s Law School in Pune. Her family supported her decision to moving to Pune from Madhya Pradesh.

Struggle
This was not her first attempt in UPSC Civil Services Examination. After completing her law degree she started preparing for CSE in Delhi. She had done a lot of hard work during her first attempt. But unfortunately, she was not able to clear the prelims examination. But this failure never stopped her from doing hard work. This failure lits the spark in her to do more to achieve success. That is why second time she changed her strategy, find her mistakes and worked on her. She used to study for 8- 10 hours a day to clear the exam. She made a fixed timetable and regularly follow it. All her hard work leads her to the success she wants.

Prelims Examination Advice
During her first attempt, she was not able to clear the prelims but she improves her strategy the second time and cleared the CSE. So always start your prelims preparation by reading the syllabus carefully. Do not leave any section of the syllabus. Reading the syllabus thoroughly will help you in entire preparation. Then go through the previous year question papers, these will guide you through the exam. You will get to know about the pattern of the exam and types of questions asked in the exam. Prelims have objective types of questions, so you just have to eliminate the unnecessary options. You should make your preparation strategy according to yourself. You should focus on contemporary developments.

Mains Examination Advice
The important thing for mains examination is analysis. You should focus on your analysis attitude. Like what is the question and what is the examiner expecting or asking for? It happened several times, the proper answers are given but the examinee does not understand the demand of the questions and it becomes a mistake. To avoid this mistake you should read the answer sheets of toppers, this will give you an idea of how to phrase and write an answer. You should examine the answer in different ways so that you get to know about the various aspects of the answer. The main exam is based on the analysis so your look and feel should be reflected in the subject.
Interview Advice
The entire interview is basically focused on the application form you fill. So, you should keep in mind what information you have given in the form. You should know what you have written in the form. Find your strengths and weaknesses and analyze your form. Questions can be asked related to current affairs also, so be updated with the current affairs. Questions and counter-questions are made on your opinion on any issue.
