The Successful Journey of Lok Bandhu: UPSC 2014 Topper AIR 7
So today we are going to discuss the journey of another topper who made everyone proud. Lok Bandhu is a middle-class child who made everyone proud of his achievement.
UPSC Civil Services Exam is a very prestigious exam. There are many young people who are preparing for CSE, but to crack this exam, is not everyone’s cup of tea. But as we all know Nothing is Impossible. So, anyone can do it by his/her dedication and hard work.
The profession of IAS Officer is a dream of many young aspirants, but the journey towards it, is not at all easy. You have to be dedicated to your preparation.
The only aim of his life is to crack the civil services examination and got selected as an IAS officer. He finally achieved it by securing 7th rank all over India in UPSC CSE.
So, let’s start with his journey.

Family Background
Lok Bandhu belongs to a middle class and he used to live in Mandi Village, Narnaul-Nangal Choudhary road, Haryana. His father is a businessman and his family is settled in Delhi. His father has a business of tent house in Delhi. His mother Maya Devi is a housewife. His mother was not able to study further after 8th standard but she always tries to make her children well educated.
He has two elder sisters and both of them has cracked UPSC CSE previously. Her sister Kranti is a Deputy Commissioner in Income Tax at Mumbai. Her another elder sister Pooja is an IPS officer at Rajasthan. Both of his sisters motivated him to prepare for civil services.
His mother told a media person that “Lok Bandhu informed us about his achievement over the phone. We are glad he has achieved his childhood dream of serving the nation by joining the IAS”.
His father also said that “My grandfather Rao Madhav Singh was a freedom fighter and keeping the tradition alive, my children are serving the country, though in a different field”.
In his interview to Hindustan Times, he gave the credit of his success to his father and his sisters. He stated that “It’s a great day for me. I owe my success to my father Vishav Bandhu, my sisters”.

Educational Background
Lok Bandhu belongs to a small village so he completed his primary education there. He completed his primary education from Madho Public School from the village which is being run by his father’s cousin. After completing his primary education he changed his school. He completed his schooling from DAV School, Narnaul.
After completing his schooling he opted for B.Sc. for graduation. He completed his B.Sc. (Biotechnology) from Jaipur. He didn’t settle here. He further wants to pursue his studies.
He completed his MBA from Shri Ram College of Commerce. After completing his masters he started preparing for civil services examination along with his sister.
He was doing a job at Indian Railway Traffic Services (IRTS) when the result for UPSC 2014 was declared.

He secured 1007 marks out of 2025. He became a national topper by securing 7th rank. His scores are given below:

Lok Bandhu chooses Sociology as his optional subject.
Even her mother is not well educated, because of some reasons she didn’t pursue her studies. But she never learns to stop her children being educated. She tried her best to make her children well educated and achieve success what they deserve.
She always wants that all of her children will be successful in their career. She had worked a lot and gone through a lot to see all her children in a similar position and this was her only aim in her life.
Lok Bandhu was always interested in Sociology and her sisters also told him to choose Sociology as an optional subject. So he opted sociology so that he can score well in the exam.

Number of Attempts
He first appeared in civil services examination in 2013 and he cleared the exam but his rank was not so good. He got 855th rank and selected in IRTS. He was not satisfied by his performance so he again decides to appear for the exam.
He again appeared in the exam in 2014 and this time he converts his dream into reality. He got selected as an IAS officer not only this he secured a very good rank also.
In his interview, he said that “My sisters motivated me to improve my rank from last year’s 855 to seventh this year”.
His mother was very happy with his son’s achievement. She said that “I had thrived to see my children to become IAS officers, when my eldest daughter, Kranti was studying in Class 5. I had been longing to witness a day in my life to see when all my 3 kids would become IAS officers”.
