UPSC conducts various exams every year for the recruitment of various Civil Services. The examination is called Civil Services Examination. There are many young aspirants who are preparing for the exam and everyone wants to clear the exam. But it is one of the toughest exams in India, so no one can crack it without hard work

Athul J is another example of hard work. He always believed that your hard work will never cheat on you, it will worth it. He not just only cleared the exam but got 13th rank and made his parents proud.

EARLY LIFE
Athul’s family is very supportive regarding her UPSC Examination. His father motivated him to prepare for Civil Services Examination and serve the country. He wants his son to do something for our country. Civil Services became his dream.
His father M.V. Janardhanan was an Army officer. He is retired now. As his father was also serving the nation so, he wants his child to do the same. And Athul has been brought up with a dream to serve his nation his best. His mother Latha Janardhanan is a homemaker. She taught her child to never give up if he will fail or succeed.
IAS officer is a dream of Athul from his childhood days. He followed his father footsteps and choose Civil services instead of any other profession. He never wanted a service-oriented job, he prepared himself for UPSC only.
In one of his interviews, he said that “I hope to make India proud by becoming an efficient diplomat and play a role in improving her relations with other nations”. While people asked him about the political violence he stated that “I took a neutral stand and said violence was never an answer to any issue”.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
He was a child who was dedicated toward his studies from his younger age. He has a brilliant personality and he always believed himself. He was also a brilliant student at his school.
As he was living in Kannur so, he completed his studies from there also. He completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Payyannur. He was a good scorer in his school as well.
After his schooling, he opted for Engineering. To become an Engineer, he started his journey. He did his Mechanical Engineering from the School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology. He completed his Engineering in 2015.
When he completed his engineering he decided to prepare for UPSC, gave her first attempt in Civil Services Examination.

SCORES OF ATHUL J
He secured a total of 1072 marks out of 2025 and became a national topper. He has secured 13th rank all over India. His scores are as follows:

STRUGGLE
As he is from a family where his father was also an Army Officer. So he used to live a very well disciplined life. He had to struggle as he had no idea about the exam. There is a huge difference between the pattern and system of study when his father gave the exam. So, it was not that much help for him. But he never stops during his journey.
When after completing his Engineering he decided to go for UPSC, he had no idea of the exam. He doesn’t know what kind of material he will be needed for his preparation. He was new to this field. So he has to find his correct direction for the preparation.
He never opted for coaching classes. He wants to prepare on his own. So when he first started his preparation and appeared for the exam, he didn’t make it. Unfortunately, he was not selected for the exam at that time. But after his first failure, he believed himself that he can do it, just that he had to do a lot more efforts.
So, he again appears for the exam. And at this time he did not only clear the exam but secured AIR 13 rank and become a national topper.
He made his parents proud of his achievement and he will continue to make them proud by his successful career.

STRATEGY
To be successful in anything, you have to plan your journey. You plan should have the capability that you can give to your studies as well as your health and family also. The strategy Athul used to follow during his preparation is given below:
Hard Work
To make your dreams come true, you have to do a lot of hard work. UPSC is one of the toughest exams in India, so it needs a lot of hard work. Never stop yourself by doing hard work. Always try t come out from your comfort zone and be prepared for every situation.
Athul had done a lot of hard work, as he was new to this field and he never thought about joining coaching classes. So he had to prepare by his own and he had no other helpful source.
Time Management
It is a very important key which leads to your success. To your weaknesses and strengths, you have to follow a timetable. This will help you to know that in which field you are weak and in what area you are strong. Make a timetable and stick to it. Give at least 7-8 hours of study each day during your preparation.
Reward Yourself
After a hectic schedule, you will need some time to relax. Always try to reward yourself. Thinking how you can reward yourself? Don’t worry we’ll help you.
You can reward yourself for completing your target. You can watch a movie after achieving your target. You can go to spend time with your family, you can spend time with friends. You can enjoy your hobbies as your reward.
Practice
As we all heard that Practice makes a person perfect. So always practice before your exam. You can write some essays before your exam that, this will give you a rough idea that how much time you need to complete an essay and make yourself ready for your exam. Try to give some tests before your exam, it will help you to remember the things you’ve studied.
