EARLY LIFE
He was a good student from his school days. He belongs to a family where his parents taught him to be hardworking and self-confident. They are resident of Siwan (a small area in Bihar). His parents were not educated as well as he, but they always supported him in his studies.
His mother Krishna is a housewife but she always motivated him to prepare for the examination. She always told him not to give up and never stop doing hard work. His father Vishnu Dayal is working as a Warrant Officer at Air Force, he is a very strict man and always told his son to be disciplined.
He comes from a middle-class family, his parents always told him to value knowledge but not money. So, this helped him in taking the decision to prepare for UPSC. He was in the last year of his Engineering when he decides that he will like to go for Civil Service Examination. And his parents supported him after his failures also, he never gets disheartened by his failures.
In one of his interviews, he gave all the credit of his success to his family, parents, friends and his teachers. He also focused on his personality. He says “If you have a hobby pursue it, if you have a passion pursue it. At the end of the day, you do not need to be hard on yourself”.
He always believed in hard work and never lose hope for his success. It was quite a tough journey for him, but at last, it’s all worth it.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
He used to live in Patna, but later on, because of his father’s work, his family moved to Gujrat. So, he did his schooling from Gujrat. He used to go a small school at Gujrat.
After completing his schooling, he was interested in doing Engineering. So, he pursued his dreams. To pursue his dreams he moved to Delhi.
He completed his Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi University. He did Mechanical Engineering from DU. When he was in the last year of his Engineering, he decided to prepare for CSE.
After completing his Engineering, he joined a Multinational Company in Gurugram, as well as he was preparing for his CSE also.

He scored very well in his UPSC examination and secured 7th rank and become one of the national toppers. He scored a total of 1088 marks out of 2025. His scores are given below:

STRUGGLE
He has to do a lot of struggle. The struggle is the hard work you do to achieve your dreams. He belongs to a middle class family and his financial situation was also not so well. But he decided to study and clear the exam as he wants to serve his nation and do something for our country.
It was very tough for him to prepare for the exams as well as continue doing the job. It is not easy but you can do anything by your dedication and your hard work. He was doing his job while he was preparing for UPSC, he made everyone proud by clearing the exam.
But this whole journey was a struggle for him. He gave the exam thrice before 2016, but unfortunately, his luck was not with him. He didn’t make it to the main exams. All three times he cleared his prelims but he was not able to clear the main exam.
But he never gave up after his failures. He again prepared well and gave the exam in 2016, but this time his work worth it. He did not only clear the exam but also become the national topper and makes his family proud. In his fourth attempt, he got AIR 7 and opted for IAS.

STRATEGY
Every plan has a suitable manner to make it worthy. You have to make a strategy and follow it. You have to find it on your own what will be suitable for the exam and what is not. You have to decide where you want to see yourself in the future. So, start working for your dream.
The strategy Anand followed is discussed below:
1. Hard Work
Hard work needs two things quality and quantity also. You have to go through the huge syllabus but very smartly. If something doesn’t make sense or you stuck somewhere so take help from other people but never gave up and never stop doing hard work. Hard work is the only thing which will help you to achieve your dream.
Always remember, to make it worth you have to do a lot of hard work. So, never run from doing hard work. Stay positive and work hard, don’t give up your hope.
2. Smart work
It basically means hard work but in an effective manner. You have to work hard but in a smart way. If you are doing hard work and still you are not able to complete the whole syllabus or to remember the whole syllabus, then what you can do is, you can break the whole syllabus into smaller parts you can divide our syllabus into sub-topics and then start preparing topic wise.
3. Believe
Always believe in yourself. You are the only one who has to be dedicated, no one can do it for you. Always stay positive.
Anand has seen failures in his preparation when he was not able to crack the exam thrice but he never loses hope. He believed in himself that he can do it. So like him, believe in yourself and start making efforts.
4. Learn from your Mistakes
Our mistakes are responsible for our failure. So, always ready to learn. Always learn from your previous mistakes that you’ve made, it will help you to grow. This will help you to know that where you have to work and where you are strong. You always learn by doing some mistakes and falling over.
