The final result of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2017 declared on Friday evening. This year Anudeep Durishetty top the examination. While Anu Kumari & Sachin Gupta secured second & third rank respectively.

The Journey of Abhishek
Abhishek Surana belongs to Bhilwara a small place in Rajasthan has secured 10th rank in one of the toughest examinations in India. He is very happy after seeing his result & he made his family proud by becoming a national topper.
Abhishek comes from a very well educated family & his family always told him the importance of education in the life. His father Anil Surana is a lecturer at the Government College in Bhilwara. His father always supported his decision for the preparation of CSE. In the interview, his father also said that “In the evening, I went out to buy vegetables and that’s when I got a call from Abhishek telling me that he got the 10th rank.”

He made his first attempt in 2015, but unfortunately, at that time, he was not able to clear the mains & could not make it to the interview. After that, he again gave an attempt in 2016, this time he got 250th rank & recruited in Indian Police Services (IPS). He also gave Indian Forest Service (IFS) exam in 2016 and got 2nd rank in this exam. But as his dream is to become an IAS Officer, so he decided that he will give more attempts to achieve his dream. That’s why he again gave the exam in 2017 & this time he made his dream come true by his focus & hard work.
While toping the toughest exam he said “When I was abroad, I longed for my country. I call the situation in India ‘organized chaos’ but it is still my country. No matter how it is, it is mine.” He always wanted to do something for the betterment of the country.

After completing his schooling. He prepared for the IIT entrance exam & he cleared it in his first attempt. Then he completed his engineering from IIT. After completing his engineering he immediately recruited to the Barclays Investment Bank in London. He worked there for approx. for 2 years. “After my IIT, I was recruited by Barclays Investment Bank in Singapore. I worked for the bank in London, before two friends and I founded a company and began working in Chile. It was during these two years that I was abroad that I realized that I wanted to be in India and do something for my people” he said.
While in the interview when media asked about the settling down in his life, he replied “I wanted to take a risk in my life before deciding to settle down. If you settle down early in life, I feel you do injustice to your talent and to the vast sea of opportunities available to you.”
Currently, he is undergoing the training of IPS at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy at Hyderabad & soon he will join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS).
This was the motivational journey of Abhishek Surana. The way he tackled with every failure is a true inspiration to others.
